1. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Release date: 27 August 2026
Resonance arrives only days after this guide’s publication, making it the first major date to mark. The prequel follows Sophia 15 years before A Plague Tale: Innocence. Her journey across a mysterious island connects ancient myths, buried secrets and the origins of the Macula.
Developer Asobo Studio is pushing the series towards closer combat without dropping its focus on tension, exploration and emotional storytelling. That makes Resonance a good match for players who liked the atmosphere of the earlier games but wanted a more active hero. It launches on Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud, with day-one Game Pass access confirmed by Xbox Wire.
2. The Blood of Dawnwalker
Release date: 3 September 2026
The Blood of Dawnwalker is one of the most intriguing role-playing games on the calendar. It places players in 14th-century Europe as Coen, a man trapped between humanity and vampirism. Daylight and darkness affect his skills, available routes and approach to each problem.
Its 30-day in-game time limit gives choices a real cost. Completing one quest may close another path, and ignoring a crisis can reshape later events. The project comes from Rebel Wolves, a team founded by developers with experience on The Witcher series. Bandai Namco confirms Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC versions for 3 September.
3. RuneScape: Dragonwilds
Release date: 15 September 2026
RuneScape reaches Xbox consoles for the first time through Dragonwilds. This is not a direct console edition of the long-running MMORPG. It is an open-world survival crafting game built around RuneScape creatures, skills and lore.
Players gather resources, build shelters, complete quests and fight threats such as Black Knights, Zogres and the Dragon Queen Kuldra. Solo play is supported, though co-op is likely to be its biggest draw. The familiar skill progression may give it more structure than many survival games. Xbox has confirmed a 15 September launch on Series X|S and day-one Game Pass access.
4. Dune: Awakening
Release date: 22 September 2026
After a PC launch, Dune: Awakening takes the game to Xbox.Dune: Awakening is Funcom’s survival experience for Arrakis that launches on Xbox following a PC release. Player take in water, create strongholds, create vehicles and explore a desert formed by the spice, storms and sandworms. The wider role-playing structure is expanded with the addition of House Atreides and House Harkonnen.
The Xbox version also has a full single player mode, PvP option and updated controls, as well as a performance mode designed to run at 60 fps. Support for cross-play and cross-progression on supported Xbox platforms is planned. According to Funcom’s Xbox announcement list, 22 September and Game Pass access are coming to Xbox.
5. Minecraft Dungeons II
Release date: 29 September 2026
Minecraft Dungeons II expands Mojang’s accessible dungeon-crawling spin-off with new lands, tougher enemies and two threatened worlds. Up to four players can join through online or local co-op, and solo play remains available.
The original worked well as a family-friendly entry point to loot-driven action games. The sequel keeps that broad appeal but adds more items, locations and character options. The standard edition is listed at £24.99 on the UK Xbox Store, which places it below many large autumn releases. Game Pass access on release day adds extra value for existing subscribers.
6. Gears of War: E-Day

E-Day returns to the moment the Locust Horde first emerged on Sera. The story takes place 14 years before the original Gears of War and focuses on a younger Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago. Its campaign can be played alone, through two-player split-screen or online co-op.
The Coalition is retaining cover-based combat, then adding more fluid movement and a darker horror tone. Multiplayer includes Versus and Horde Siege, a larger co-op mode with classes, shared objectives and world bosses. The UK Xbox Store lists a £59.99 starting price, a 6 October release and Game Pass Ultimate access.
7. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
Release date: 14 October 2026
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is a new 2D action-exploration game from Konami, Evil Empire and Motion Twin. The story follows Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor, through a monster-filled Paris in 1499.
Rose can use the Vampire Killer whip for combat and movement. Defeated bosses become tarot-based Arcana skills, opening new attacks and traversal options. The involvement of developers linked to Dead Cells makes its faster movement especially promising. The UK Xbox Store lists the base game at £24.98 for Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support.
8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
Release date: 22 October 2026 in the UK Xbox Store
Modern Warfare 4 brings another campaign and competitive multiplayer package, but DMZ may be its defining feature. The returning extraction mode places solo players and squads in a changing combat zone where they recover technology, negotiate, fight and attempt to escape with their gear.
The Xbox listing supports up to 60 online players, 120fps output on compatible hardware, cross-platform multiplayer and Xbox Play Anywhere. The standard console edition is listed at £69.99. 9. Grand Theft Auto VI
Release date: 19 November 2026
Grand Theft Auto VI remains the biggest third-party release on the Xbox schedule. Rockstar’s crime story follows Jason and Lucia across Vice City and the wider state of Leonida. An easy score goes wrong, pulling the pair into a conspiracy that forces them to depend on each other.
Rockstar has confirmed Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions for 19 November 2026. No Xbox One edition has been announced. Game Pass availability has not been confirmed. Players with limited Series S storage should plan early, since large open-world releases can require substantial download space.
10. Persona 4 Revival
Release date: 18 February 2027
Persona 4 Revival rebuilds Atlus’s acclaimed mystery RPG for modern systems. It returns to Inaba, where a group of students investigates a chain of murders linked to a strange world inside television screens.
The remake promises upgraded visuals, refined systems and quality-of-life changes. Its mix of turn-based battles, school life and character relationships gives Xbox players a very different option from the autumn action line-up. Persona 4 Revival is scheduled for Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud, with Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere support.
11. Fable
Release date: 23 February 2027
Playground Games is reimagining Fable as an open-world action RPG built around choice, reputation and British humour. Players can fight with melee weapons, ranged attacks and magic, then shape life in Albion through jobs, property, relationships and moral decisions.
Its Living Population system lets non-player characters judge the hero through their own values. Actions can change reputations, settlements, quests and relationships. Xbox confirms a 23 February release for Series X|S, PC and cloud. Game Pass access is planned from launch, with Premium Edition early access starting on 18 February.
12. State of Decay 3
Release window: 2027
State of Decay 3 keeps the series focused on communities rather than a single invincible hero. Players must build settlements, manage survivors and respond to a changing zombie threat shaped by blood plague. Solo play and shared-world co-op for up to four players have been confirmed.
No fixed release date has been announced. That makes any exact day listed by an unofficial retailer unreliable. Xbox currently places the game in 2027 for Series X|S, PC and cloud, with Game Pass access planned.
